What an air conditioning service covers.
The standard service.
- Filter clean — washed or replaced so airflow and air quality are restored
- Coil clean — indoor and outdoor coils cleaned of dust, mould and (on coastal jobs) salt deposits
- Gas-pressure check — confirms the charge is right and flags any slow leak early
- Electrical check — connections, contactor and capacitor health checked
- Condensate drain flush — clears the mould and slime that blocks drains in our humid climate
- Operational test — cooling and heating run-tested, temperatures verified
Why annual servicing matters here.
Two reasons. First, your warranty — many manufacturers require documented annual servicing, and a skipped service can be the reason a future claim is knocked back. Second, the humidity — Sunshine Coast air conditioners pull a lot of moisture out of the air, which feeds mould and slime on the coil and in the condensate drain. Left alone that drops efficiency, fouls the air you breathe, and eventually blocks the drain so it drips from the head or ceiling outlet. A yearly clean heads all of that off.
Realistic 2026 service price bands.
A standard service runs about $120–$250 per indoor head — a single split at the lower end, multi-head and ducted systems more because there’s more to clean and check. Holiday-let and hard-running commercial systems often warrant a service every six months. If we find a fault during the service we quote any repair separately and up front — a service never turns into a surprise bill.
Why we don’t cut corners.
A real service is a proper clean and check, not a quick filter rinse and a sticker. Any gas-pressure work is carried out under an ARCtick licence and electrical checks to AS/NZS 3000. We clean both coils, flush the drain properly and check the charge — the things that actually keep your running cost down and your warranty intact — and we keep a record of the service for your warranty file.
