Ducted air conditioning across the Sunshine Coast.
Whole-home ducted design and install with zoning — the comfortable, discreet answer to the Sunshine Coast’s year-round cooling demand. One outdoor unit, ceiling outlets through the house, and zones so you only cool the rooms you’re using. Typical 3–4 bedroom home about $11K–$16K. ARCtick & QBCC-licensed.
What a ducted install involves.
Design & sizing for the whole home.
Ducted is a design job, not just a supply job. We calculate the heat load for each area, size the indoor fan coil and outdoor condenser to suit, and plan the duct runs and outlet positions for even temperatures across the home. Get the design wrong and you end up with rooms that never cool and a compressor that can’t keep up; get it right and the system is quiet, even and economical to run in our humid climate.
Zoning — only cool what you’re using.
Most Sunshine Coast homes work well on three to five zones — typically living/kitchen, master, and one or two zones grouping the other bedrooms. Motorised dampers and a wall (or app) controller let you shut off the rooms you’re not in, which is the single biggest lever on running cost. Zoning adds roughly $500–$1,500 per zone for the dampers, controller and extra ducting.
The install.
- Indoor fan coil mounted in the roof space, vibration-isolated and accessible for service
- Insulated flexible ducting run to each supply outlet, return-air grille positioned correctly
- Outdoor condenser sited on a level base, kept clear of salt spray on coastal jobs
- Zone dampers, controller and wiring; refrigerant lines vacuumed and charged to spec
- Dedicated circuit and isolator by a licensed electrician to AS/NZS 3000
- Full commissioning — airflow balanced across zones, cooling and heating tested
Realistic 2026 price bands.
A typical 3–4 bedroom home runs about $11,000–$16,000 supplied and installed with zoning. Smaller single-storey homes can come in nearer $9,000; larger or two-storey homes with more zones and outlets push toward $18,000–$20,000. Roof access, available ceiling space, insulation and outlet count all move the figure — which is exactly why we quote on-site rather than over the phone.
Why we don’t cut corners.
A ducted system is a big investment, and the difference between a good install and a cheap one shows up every summer. Refrigerant work is done under an ARCtick licence, the install under the correct QBCC licence, the electrical by a licensed electrician to AS/NZS 3000, and any fresh-air or ventilation requirement handled with AS/NZS 1668.2 in mind. We balance the airflow across zones and commission it properly — an uncommissioned ducted system is the one with the hot back bedroom and the sky-high power bill.
Just need one or two rooms done? A split system install may suit better. See the local detail for Maroochydore, or get a free on-site quote.
